Finance Wales is led by a strong executive management team with an enviable track record. They lead staff based at the company’s headquarters in Cardiff and regional offices throughout Wales.

 

Siân Lloyd Jones, Chief executiveSiân Lloyd Jones

Chief executive

Siân was appointed chief executive of Finance Wales plc in 2004. During that time she has restructured the company, developing the strong commercial focus it has today. Educated at Somerville College, Oxford, Siân began her career with a number of City institutions before returning to Wales. She was chief executive of the former Development Board for Rural Wales and has held executive director roles within the former Welsh Development Agency.

Mike joined Finance Wales in 1999 having worked at Barclays Bank since 1989 following the completion of a degree in politics at Cardiff University. After completing the Barclays’ graduate training programme, Mike undertook a number of management roles within the bank throughout Wales. He joined Finance Wales as loans fund manager before being appointed to his current role in 2004.

Nick joined Finance Wales in 2002 and has held a number of positions in the company. Nick holds an executive MBA from Imperial College’s Tanaka Business School, where he specialised in advanced strategy and venture capital. He achieved a distinction in his dissertation which considered critical success factors of government intervention in SME financing. Prior to joining Finance Wales he worked at the European Parliament in Brussels where he supported MEPs on economic development issues and in the private sector for a utilities company.

 

Kevin O’Leary, Finance and administration directorKevin O'Leary

Finance and administration director

Kevin leads Finance Wales’ internal finance and administration teams. He joined the company in 2006 from his previous role as head of support services for the former Welsh Development Agency. Prior to this he spent 22 years working in local government in Wales, ultimately as chief accountant for a south Wales unitary authority for six years. Kevin studied at Liverpool School of Commerce.

 

Peter Wright, Investment directorPeter Wright

Investment director

Peter joined Finance Wales as investment director in 2004 from his previous position as head of acquisition finance at Fortis Bank. He worked for NatWest for 31 years, including periods as head of the bank’s specialised finance unit and was corporate director of the bank’s largest London-based company business centre which focused on fast growth firms in the technology and e-commerce sectors. He served as a member of the board of Finance Wales for three years prior to his appointment.
