Why we invested
Haemair is a pre-revenue Swansea University
spin-in company, developing two new
technologies with strong market potential.
One is a respiratory aid to combat lung disease; the other
(developed by a Haemaflow, a subsidiary company) is a device for
measuring blood gases without the need for blood tests. Both
devices have the potential to reduce medical treatment costs.
Formed in 2005, Haemair has a strong
management team with a background in life sciences.
Outcome
This funding round will enable Haemair to
conduct pre-clinical trials and Haemaflow to conduct first in man
trials.
Testimonials
"The market for medical devices continues to grow and is a key
sector for early stage investment. We’re pleased to invest in
Haemair as it develops two new devices with the potential to reduce
healthcare costs," Ann Casey, Investment Executive, Finance
Wales.
"Haemair’s mission is to reduce deaths from acute lung disease,
improve the lives of chronic lung disease sufferers and ultimately
provide an alternative to transplantation. Finance Wales’
investment will enable us to continue bench testing our devices and
move towards commercialisation," Professor Bill Johns, Managing
Director, Haemair.
