ZooBiotic becomes world-leader after acquiring European
competitor

Finance Wales has invested in ZooBiotic's acquisition of
BioMonde GMbH, its main European competitor.
The acquisition enables the pharmaceutical company to secure its
position as a dominant player.
"The acquisition consolidates our global IP position and
provides us with the financial strength to complete our European
market development," said Gareth Kempson, ZooBiotic's CEO. "This
will enable ZooBiotic to build a firm foundation for our drive into
the North American market."
The multi-million pound deal was financed by Finance Wales and
Sir Roger Jones. Cardiff-based Gambit and M&A Solicitors
provided financial and legal advice.
Long-term investment
Finance Wales first invested in ZooBiotic in 2005, when it spun
out of Bro-Morgannwg National Health Service Trust.
We've since invested five more rounds totalling £3.1 million in
this portfolio company.
Innovative IP
ZooBiotic specialises in larval therapies for the wound care
sector, using an innovative technology to clean and encourage
wound-healing. The cost-effective treatment has attracted
significant attention from a number of potential clients.
